The conch shell is mounted with a gilded copper apron showing the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism in Tibet:
The shell itself which coils to the right symbolises the sound of the Dharma teachings and awakens disciples from ignorance.
The precious umbrella symbolises the activity of preserving beings from harm together with the sufferings of this and future lives.
The victory banner symbolises the victory of disciples over obstacles and also the victory of Buddhist doctrine over harmful forces.
The golden fish symbolises the auspiciousness of all beings to live in a state of fearlessness and freedom as the fish swims through water.
The Dharma Wheel symbolises the turning of the wheel of Buddha's doctrine.
The auspicious drawing represents the interdependence of religious doctrine and secular affairs and at the time of enlightenment the union of wisdom and compassion.
The lotus flower symbolises the purification of the body and the blossoming of wholesome deeds in blissful liberation.
The vase of treasure symbolises all the benefits of this world.
