Silver Ankle Cuffs
India
19th Century
These silver ankle cuffs are of a type typically worn by women of Harijan, Koli and other communities in Gujarat, North-West India.
As is commented in the Mughal Siver Magnificence catalogue "The unusually simple, uncluttered lines of these anklets are reminiscent of modern silver forms, while their beautifully wrought hinges reveal a high degree of technical skill on the part of the silversmith who created them".
