This glazed and moulded ceramic panel depicts the moment when Khosrau and Shirin first set eyes on each other in the famous Persian love poem set down in verse at the end of the 12th century by Nezami Ganjavi.
The inscription reads "The Servant of the Court of Aga Jan wrote it"
length 53 cm height 41 cm (21 x 16 in)
Provenance: Cecil Jermyn-Brown, Professor at Lucknow University 1900-1920
