A Pair of Maltese Table Tops (SOLD)

Circa 1840

The serpentine outline of breccia marble engraved and inlaid with panels of rosso breccia and other varieties. The coupled arms show a coronet with two crests within a symmetrical display of scrolls.

The Coat of Arms are those of the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry, who was the Duke of Wellington's ablest soldier and companion during the Peninsular War and those of his wife Lady Frances Anne Emily, only daughter and heiress of Sir Henry, 2nd Baronet of Wynyard Park.

Provenance Charles William, 3rd Marquess of Wynyard Park, Co. Durham. Thence by descent at Wynyard Park.
