A Massive Mughal Cannon Captured in 1858

Late 17th/Early 18th Century

This impressive bronze cannon is cast in relief with an overall chevron design and with a band of flowerheads around the muzzle.

Length 238.8 cm (94 in)

Provenance:
Captured from the hill fort at Copidroog by soldiers commanded by Major-General Macleod on 2nd June 1858. Later donated by him to the Royal United Service Museum.
