The handle of gilt-copper and the pommel of ivory carved as a stylised bird
This very large Kris is an insignia showing the rank and authority of the Sultan and would also be used to represent him at important ceremonies if he were unable to attend. It was made without a blade but with a short tang which fitted into a large wooden scabbard. Another example can be seen in the National Museum of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
